This week we focused on distractions.  This is a continual process that will ensure Daisy will pretty much ignore people, places, noises and things that don't pertain to her while working.

Daisy's main event took place last night in Avila Beach, about 30 minutes south of Morro Bay.  All week I took Daisy on her familiar walks, DNCS Coffee, beach, neighborhood, grocery store as well as some new places.

Daisy spent about 90 minutes waiting at the Verizon store in San Luis Obispo and, again, was the star of the morning.  Even the angry people in line took time from complaining to ask about her and note how wonderfully behaved she was!  During this time two of those waiting for service told me they wanted to take her home!  Stand in line, already have had more than a dozen say the same thing!

After our Verizon wait, Daisy had her first taste of downtown San Luis Obispo.  We visited a few storefronts, chatted with people and worked on her reluctance of big vehicles.  The Verizon store is located across the street from the bus terminal.  Daisy is doing better accepting this big buses are here to stay!

Yesterday in Avila Beach, we attended a family event right on the boardwalk in an open-air restaurant. Mackenzie's boyfriend, Alec, proposed on the beach in a very romantic spot.  She said "Yes", followed by the gathering of Alec's parents, sister Madi and her friend Terry as well as Stacy, myself and Daisy.  Throughout the evening Daisy performed perfectly.  She interacted as requested, impressed others in the area and listened to another, "I could just take you home!"

This week we introduced Daisy to a walker.  To begin we just had the unit in our living room.  She sniffed and accepted this new item. We then placed a bag of her toys on the seat.  Daisy was able to approach the walker without fear and retrieve her bag.  Finally, I used the walker around the house not giving Daisy any direction.  She just watched.

Daisy's Digs

A Puppies' Point of View

                                        By Daisy D.

OK, I have a complaint!  So after going all the places that human Ray wanted to go this week, the place that smells like his morning coffee, the Big Water, through the big green grass with little humans and just walking looking a people, my fur is fluffed.  Before the long dark, we drove for a long, long time, I didn't mind because I slept, to go to another Big Water.  I've seen this all before, Big Water, people, walking, tables people but this time it was different.  I was told to go under the table, so I did.  Then I was told to go potty, so I did.  I was told to chew a bone, so I did (but I really liked the bone).

Here is my complaint; I did all of those things human Ray said to me.  There were other humans that had that look in their eye, like "I want you", that was strange.  But when human Ray took me to the beach after a long time under the table, he just kept me close to him.  Human Ray didn't let me run, run and run!  Wait, what is happening?  We usually have fun running and playing.  This time we just slowly walked, I tried to run, but NO, just walk.  I think I know why!  Human Ray had his new old-man shoes on where usually he takes off his flips.  So new old-man shoes means he won't let me run.

I hope he has his flips on the next time we go the the Big Water.
