Daisy's Thoughts
Daisy spent the week continuing work on her foundation skills, with special emphasis on "wait" and "stay" at open doors. We also renewed specific training on "come" while off leash. Since Daisy is rarely off leash, this is one of those skills that seemed to slip down the list of importance. However, it is very important. So with Daisy getting older, and less puppy-like, it's time to renew this skill.
Our main goal this week was to start Daisy interacting with public transportation. In Morro Bay there is a central location where busses all stop as their "home", but there is no building or garage, just a parking-free zone next to the park. Here is where I met one driver who was most gracious helping Daisy. This encounter was basically sniffing, looking and gaining trust that the bus was not a danger. Daisy did well getting to know the driver and, eventually, walking across the electronic ramp. This week I'll take Daisy on her first bus ride through Cambria ending in San Simeon.
Once Daisy is familiar with busses in Morro Bay, we go to San Luis Obispo to their real bus terminal. There she will work on the bus experience, noise, crowded spaces and people wanting to know all about her.

Daisy's Digs
A Puppies' Point of View
By Daisy D.
I've introduced you to my friend Charlie. Charlie is a young boy, two strikes against him, but a good playmate. Charlie likes taking my chew stick and running away to the corner so I can't get it back. Sometimes he will run into the small kennel human Ray put in the big room. Charlie knows that when he's in the kennel, I really can't get my chew stick back.
So this day I decided to beat him to the kennel. I was able to squeeze myself into the small space before he could! The look on his face was priceless! He was looking at human Ray like, "Hey, that's not fair", such a boy.
I just stayed in there, really to irritate him a bit, until he lost interest. Once he found something else to do I left the kennel and went about my business chewing the stick. Boys!
Girls, you know what I mean, right?
Sometimes it's hard being a growing puppy.
