Daisy's Thoughts

Daisy had a great week, again!  Our big event was to ride the public transportation bus.  Last week we did the "sniff" experience outside the bus.  This week we rode the bus for about 45 minutes. Daisy was a little hesitant getting on, her first time, but once she was greeted by the driver and the two passengers seated up front, she was fine.

This experience provided practice with new environments, new people, noises, motion and continued to give Daisy more confidence with each outing.

I tried to focus on general distractions this week again.  We visited Cayucos, with it's boardwalk, pier and Ocean Front Pizza where the owners have been watching Daisy grow up.  As with all outings, we are constantly approached by people wanting to know all about Daisy.  This is a great opportunity for Daisy to sit and stay, without my direction, in heel position.  This is also where I look at and talk to Daisy indirectly giving directions to the people.  "Daisy, wait before you say hello", works every time as each person waits before they say hello.

It seems like the only place where Daisy and I can be outside without people talking to me is the beach.  So at times we just park there and enjoy the waves crashing in the distance and the peace and quiet in the truck.  Nice.

Daisy's Digs

A Puppies' Point of View

                                        By Daisy D.

Each day human Ray or Stacy do something fun with me!  Early in the morning human Stacy takes me walking, Sometimes I don't want to get out of bed, but I do because human Stacy wants me to.

Human Ray likes to go places, like to get coffee, walk by the big buildings or go look at guitars.  However, he does something that I don't know what he's doing or why he's doing this thing.  A whole bunch of days, while I could be sleeping, he drives me to the big water, he calls it the beach, but I think he really means big water.  When we get there we just sit in the truck and look.  Human Ray looks out the front window, I usually look out the side.  But I always wonder, what we are looking at?  He stops the truck, turns off the part where little people in the truck sing and play the guitar, and just looks.  So I look too.  That's until I get tired of looking, then I lay down.

I'm thinking he needs to look at the big water and sit where the big round fire is in front of him.  Maybe this is where he get's his special food that he can't keep in the tall cold box at home.  I'm not sure.

But it's nice just sitting with Human Ray doing nothing.

Sometimes it's hard being a growing puppy.
