Daisy's Thoughts
This week Daisy spent lots of hours working on opening doors, closing doors and pushing the walk button to cross Highway 1. We also toured downtown Morro Bay and Cayucos to find door handles that Daisy and her pull-rope could manage to open. We found a few, even spoke to the owners asking permission to practice opening their door. All agreed.
While in Utah, I took photos of all of the possible types of door handles Daisy will be asked to open. Any door with a straight enclosed handle, or a handle that is large enough, even if it has an open end, Daisy will open. Think of retail business doors that remain unlocked during hours. The remainder of the doors Daisy can open are doors with wall-mounted, push-button activated doors. From the simple foundation skill of learning to push the "Doggie Door Bell" at home, starting about 9 weeks of age, Daisy is using this skill to close doors, push the crosswalk button and opening doors with the side wall mounted push button.
Over the next few months Daisy's foundation skills will become more important as she is able to utilize these basic skills in more complex skills to assist her client.
As always, this week we had some fun going to stores and playing at the beach. Daisy likes to dig!

Daisy's Digs
A Puppies' Point of View
By Daisy D.
I did watch some of the game, "Really, you've got to be kidding", again with Human Ray! What I noticed was these small boys playing in the box used a strange shaped ball. It's called a football. I asked if there is a paw-ball, thinking I could make my own game. Human Ray couldn't say.
For a long time now, Human Ray kept telling people I was a tri-color. I'm getting a bit confused. I'm a puppy and going to be a dog. I wondered what a tri-color was? So I looked in the mirror for long a long time and noticed I have three shades of this "color" on my body. I have light and dark color. My nose is different. It looks like the dark and light couldn't make up their mind so the agreed to mix themselves.
Then one day we went to "Ace Hardware", again. Once I said hi to everyone I know there, Human Ray walked me to a place where he asked about a color. This was it! This is where all the colors live to choose from! I got so excited, this was going to be the day! But wait, I wasn't sure I wanted new colors! Human Ray didn't even ask me if I wanted to change! Then Human Ray asked about the color yellow. No, I thought! I really don't want to be a yellow Labradoodle! I like my tri-colors as I am!
Sometimes it's hard being a growing puppy.
