Daisy's Thoughts

Daisy had quite a week!  Trainer Madi stepped up and provided Daisy with the opportunity to not only exercise, but to make decisions.

Exercise: During these formative months Daisy needs plenty of exercise to develop her muscles and her mind.  She is still growing, so Daisy needs to be challenged to move to stay strong.  Otherwise, Daisy would sleep and grow but get a bit lazy.  Daisy met the physical challenges with ease!

Decision Making: While hiking with Madi and friends, Daisy was put in a position to decide what pathway to take up and down the mountain.  The first daytime hike found her going up and down a medium size mountain, for California standards, and handled it with ease.  Madi reports she observed Daisy often looking at her selection of pathways then deciding her route.  The second day of hiking similar opportunities were presented and Daisy displayed greater confidence in her decision making.

Why is this important?  Throughout Daisy's life she will be presented many decisions on a daily basis.  While with her client, Daisy will need to observe, comprehend, and finally decide her action.  Daisy will be fully trained to perform multiple tasks.  However, during performing these tasks, Daisy will need to determine correct sequence, timing and ending the task.  She will also need to determine dangerous situations and react accordingly.

Daisy's Digs

A Puppies' Point of View

                                        By Daisy D.

One evening I was just about asleep after a full-day of playing with Human Ray.  I was helping him open doors, and then right away, closing doors.  I was just resting under Human Ray's feet when Human Madi came in as said, "Daisy, let's go for a walk", so I did, even though I was tired.

At that time I had no idea what was about to happen.  Human Madi drove us a long, long away before we stopped.  There was a big mountain in front of me when I got out of the car.  "Bark!", I said out loud!  What was happening?

I started to walk with Human Madi for a long time.  Then I stopped and asked Human Madi a question.  I looked in her eyes for a long time, then she said, "Daisy, it's ok, we're hiking to the top!"  I'm not sure what "hiking" is all about, but I'll go along.

And then it happened! At the top of the mountain I saw this really tall thing coming out of the ground! Human Madi called it a "Monolith".  I never saw anything like this in-dog (like in-person)!  This thing was big with a bright shine!  The only other place I saw this kind of thing was on the black box with little people playing the ball foot game.  Human Ray calls that a TV.  Human Ray was watching something called "Outer Limits", and there they were!  These tall thing coming out of the ground.  And I already know what happens next; the tall things will start hiking down the big mountain!  Yikes!

I'm glad Human Madi was there to help me!

Sometimes it's hard being a growing puppy.
