16 weeks old

Daisy continues her foundation skills:

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Wait

  • Heel

  • Look at me

  • Doorbell

  • Shake

  • Leave it

This week began Daisy's clearance to go anyplace outside of the property boundaries on the ground. Each day we would take her out for her "sniff walk" which means our main objective is to have Daisy explore outside her 15 week bubble.

At home we continue to play reinforcing her fundamental behaviors each day.  Our trip to ACE Hardware this week was Daisy's first exploring from outside her stroller.  Great interaction and reducing distractions.

New Play:

  • Sand

  • Water

Our big event this week was going to the ocean.  Daisy experienced sand and a little bit of surf.  We let her explore and determine her comfort level.  Following the beach, Daisy had her first bath.  I think she was more uncomfortable in the bath than in the ocean!

Overall, Daisy is right on if not ahead of schedule in her development.

Daisy's Digs

A Puppies' Point of View

                                        By Daisy D.

This is a strange place where I live.  The two big humans took me to, what I'll call, the BIG water!  I saw it before, but this time I learned that the BIG water is wet.  But wait! There is something strange about the water.  I'm not sure is the humans know this yet, but the water tastes funny.

One time while I was sniffing my way to the BIG water, there was some water in a little puddle right there in front of me.  I thought, "I'm thirsty", so I took a drink.  The tall man human said, "Daisy, don't drink the water", right there in front of everybody.  Now I had only heard the man human say, "Daisy, do you want some water", so I was confused.  What he doesn't know is that, because my licker is so quick, I did take a drink! Yuck! The water tasted funny. I think the big human should have told me that before I licked a drink!

After the BIG water, I found myself in the little room back home getting all wet.  Even thought the pretty human held me, it was a bit scary getting sprayed all over.  But getting all of that sand out of my hair felt pretty good.

Overall, I had a fun week sleeping and going to the waters.
