This week we concentrated on new environments.  Lots of walking!  We are still not taking her in stores because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are taking her on walks through Morro Bay and Cayucos.  It is interesting, during the pandemic people are not as open to talk to me about Daisy.  Some do, from 6 feet away, but compared to the other dogs most are keeping their eyes forward.

This weeks' continued exposure to gain confidence took place walking.  Her big accomplishment was the 1.1 mile walk to a local coffee house where I had lunch.  Daisy was perfect.  When we entered to order food, she immediately settled laying down.  Yes, she was tired but for her age did the right thing.  We found a table on the patio where she again settled at my feet.  Not once did she beg for food, bark or jump on me.  I gave her some water and she watched people and sniffed the smells.

When we take Daisy on short walks we tend to return home on the same path.  This is done so she eventually know where she is and how to get home.  Upon our return from the coffee place we again traveled the same pathway.  About one block from home, still around three corners, Daisy realized where she was and started jumping with excitement.  It was so cute seeing her react to knowing we're close to home.  She danced all the way home!

Overall, Daisy is right on, if not ahead of schedule, in her development.

Daisy's Digs

A Puppies' Point of View

                                        By Daisy D.

This week we walked and walked.  Then the next day, we walked and walked.  Then the next day, you get the idea!  We walked a lot!  One day even Madi and her friends walked and walked with me. That was fun!

Something strange happened on one of the walks.  This is not the first time I noticed how strange this place is always growing and shrinking. Well now, I'm thinking the tall human Ray seems to not know where he is going.  We walk random places but then, I noticed, we go by the same place right before we get home.  On this day, we walked and walked and walked. Then we went in this big box.  Human Ray talked to this person, I watched. This same person gave human Ray food. After he ate his food, without giving me a bite, we walked and walked.  I'm always a bit uneasy because I never know if old human Ray knows how to get back home.  Well this day we were walking and "BARK", there we were right by the cows!  I thought to myself, "yes, we are not lost!"  I knew where the cows lived so I knew we were almost home!  I started jumping about, up and down, up and down!  I was so happy not to be lost, but I knew we were not because the cows were there!  I danced all the way home.

This was a good day!
